The Problem

Child sexual abuse is documented sexual assault on children. It consists of a completely different type of material than adult pornography. The variety of ways this content can be distributed today very much makes it an issue that needs all of us to step in and take action against it. Together we can make a change.

The 2009 Annual and Charity Report from Internet Watch Foundation (IWF), shows that:

•    72% of the child victims appeared to be between the ages of 0 and 10
•    23% six years old or under
•    3% two years old or under
•    44% of images depicted the rape or torture of the child

According to police reports the children in the photos and videos are becoming increasingly younger, and the images increasingly more gruesome. There are even images out there depicting penetration of infants.

Can child sexual abuse content affect me?
Newspapers report almost every day on the arrest of paedophiles and the discovery of child sexual abuse images and films. But can it really affect me?

Unfortunately the answer is yes. The threat of child sexual abuse content affecting your company is every bit as real as the threat of hackers and viruses. Based on our experience, as many as 1 in a 1000 handle child sexual abuse images and films at work.

A zero tolerance policy

In order to remain on top of the game and updated with the latest information, we cooperate with police authorities and NGOs around the world. But those involved with child sexual abuse content do not want to be discovered. This makes it difficult to put numbers on just how widespread the problem of images and films on sexually exploited children is. But we are sure you agree that this problem should not be tolerated on any scale.
